Team Maclean. The Branding Machine |
Working with Scott and Rachel Maclean is always fun, I get to do it a fair bit too since I have my feet firmly planted in both the glamour and motor sport worlds. How does glamour fit into the world of motorsport? Team promotion is the answer.
Maclean Motorsport take all aspects of their sport very seriously, and they do it well. From car building, prep and presentation right through to team branding and promoting their image. With team Maclean there is a broad spectrum of material available to work with in all these areas.
The publicly recognisable side of the team comes with both the presentation of their car as well as the presentation of the team.
The car looks both resplendent and mean at the same time with its livery of glossy black underneath racing chevrons and All Tools decals. And as for the team, well the drag racing fraternity across the country recognise the team; thanks mostly to Rachel's promo girls and her work cultivating 'the look'.
You see the girls nationally on shows such as SBS Speedweek carrying the All Tools and Maclean's banners track side. Quite often they are used as colour shots during a televised event and definitely photographed many times by the accredited media in attendance. Now that is effective exposure and one that Maclean Motorsport does exceptionally well!
Rachel called me up during our coverage of the ANDRA "Nitro up North" event and asked if I'd help out with some promo while April Vaughan and Tali Doherty were repping for the team - so here's some samples of our early Saturday morning shoot at Darwin's Hidden Valley Drag Strip.
