Post-holiday period I usually find that I am starting to get eager to shoot again. For me, a large part of the months of December and January is spent catching up on project finalisation and promotional edits for the new season of Motorsports. Stock video and photos are categorised into something actually searchable out of the the gigabyte bundles of media usually just labelled by camera type & event. Equipment is cleaned and sorted, wires untangled, non functioning parts ordered and replaced.
The drudgery of all this admin, whilst necessary, needs to be broken ... for sanity's sake ... and last weekend my itchy shutter finger motivated me enough to asked my HighRPM friend +Edmund Forman if his much anticipated RX2 drag car was ready enough for me to do a 'debut' feature shoot at the strip.
As luck would have it, yes it was (with a couple of feverish all nighters by Ed I should add). Local girl Tiana Haste was keen to come and shoot with us on our first for 2016 for that 'HighRPM babe' touch so we headed down to the track for a Saturday shoot with the crew.
Being down a couple of speedlights due to technical issues never stopped a HighRPM photographer before, I managed adequate lighting with a main Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed strobe and three old but reliable Vivtar 285HV's. Check out a few of the samples from our shoot below:
